Tanner Foust lives a life most men would gladly shave off a few years of their own existence to sample. He’s won professional races on pavement, dirt and ice. He’s a rally and drifting champion. And he gets to drive some of the hottest elite performance cars on the planet as the host of the History Channel’s new Top Gear USA.
In the desperate bid to steal a little “contact cool” off of Foust’s Steve McQueen-ish, high-octane existence, AskMen jumped into his passenger seat and gassed up on Foust’s top 10 things every man must know about cars.
10. Don’t knock the Ford Fiesta
“The favorite vehicle I’ve ever driven was a Ford Fiesta. But it was specially designed for rally driving. It’s turbocharged and packs 600 horsepower. It does 0-60 in 2.2 seconds. It was the most amazing acceleration and speed I’ve ever experienced. It’s the best part of my job to get to do things like that.”
9. Getaway drivers learn advanced driving techniques
“I don’t know what you do for a living, and I don’t mean to judge. But, you’ll pick up a lot of great driving skills as a getaway driver. You’ll come away being able to drive at high speed and pull off a reverse spin turn. Women love that.”
